On the way to Halifax, we drove through tiny, scenic Peggy’s Cove, but were unable to find a parking spot for our truck and trailer at the peak of the afternoon tourist crush. The fishing village and lighthouse there were one of the most scenic spots we’ve seen on our trip, so we resolved to return in our truck the next day. We proceeded to Halifax where we dropped the trailer before lunching at a dog-friendly restaurant deck. On the way home, we found a great swimming spot for Charlie at Shubie Park.

The next morning we got an early start for the one-hour drive back to Peggy’s Cove. We spent several hours strolling, photographing and browsing the shops in town. The fishermen who live there catch haddock and bluefin tuna as well as lobster.

After another swim at Shubie Park, we dropped Charlie in the camper and caught a ferry across the bay to the Halifax waterfront. We enjoyed a pleasant afternoon of dining, drinking, shopping and listening to live music. We ended the night at the Lower Deck, a basement bar beneath the historic Andrew Keith brewery, where we listened to a couple of sets of fun music from a trio headlined by Paul Lamb.
