Angie’s cousin, Janice, and her husband BJ moved from Port Orchard, WA, to Dallas last year. They have friends with a daughter the same age who had moved here previously and they enjoyed visiting them. They built a beautiful home on a half-acre lot on a hill. The house has a screened porch and a large kitchen well suited for entertaining. Janice is an amazing cook and they are both fabulous hosts. We enjoyed some homemade beef and vegetable stew and homemade bread with Janice, while waiting for BJ to return home from a business trip.

They cleared their calendars to show us around for two days. The first day we visited nearby Ackworth, a quaint town along railroad tracks and an old mill. We enjoyed a fun Irish bar a fabulous Cajun restaurant and some ice cream. We walked through an Army Corps of Engineers park on our way home. In the cool of the evening, we lounged in their backyard while singing along with country music. Janice made some delicious quesadillas for a light dinner.

The next day we strolled through Dallas, enjoying a farmer’s market and downtown shops before stopping for lunch and drinks at Downtown Eats. Later in the day we travelled to Three Strands Winery for some tasting and a light dinner. Janice and BJ are enjoying life and it was a hoot to catch up and hang out for a while.
