We left Kirkland at about 11 for our first stop in Pendleton, OR. Navigation had us exit I-82 at Prosser to save 20 minutes via a bypass on local roads. Hank mindlessly followed the navigational directions. Unfortunately, the bypass was on a remote road with no gas stops and we were running low. We had to backtrack about 10 miles to avoid running out of gas. Cheap lesson! In the future, we will refuel when we get down to a quarter-tank, which had been our practice on previous trips.
We arrived at the Wild Horse Casino campground at about 4 pm. No sooner than we had docked and popped a celebratory libation, we noticed there was a rainbow. It was as if God was welcoming us to our first day of vacation. We walked the dogs around the spacious, well-maintained grounds. Angie served up a delicious meal of Lasagna made with Zoodles. We enjoyed a cozy night in the trailer in very high spirits. As I was sitting in a captain's chair, I noticed a major benefit of our intimate 19-foot trailer - Angie and both dogs were within arms reach for loving caresses. We are off to Boise for a two-night stay.
